What is defamation?

Merriam Webster defines defamation as "the act of saying false things in order to make people have a bad opinion of someone or something : the act of defaming someone or something."

Libel is the written form of defamation. It is a violation of Outcry's Terms of Service. If you commit libel using your Outcry account, your account will be closed and will be ineligible for reinstatement.

Many states now have criminal libel laws for web defamation. Don't do it.

If you see defamation on Outcry, please flag the offending outcry immediately. This will notify the Outcry team. Thank you for helping us keep Outcry safe for the entire community.
