What is libel?

Merriam Webster defines libel as "the act of publishing a false statement that causes people to have a bad opinion of someone."

Libel is the written form of defamation. It is a violation of Outcry's Terms of Service. If you commit libel using your Outcry account, your account will be closed and will be ineligible for reinstatement.

Many states now have criminal libel laws for web defamation. Don't do it.

If you see libel on Outcry, please flag the offending outcry immediately. This will notify the Outcry team. Thank you for helping us keep Outcry safe for the entire community.
