Start enforcing zoning rules. Developers routinely violate zoning rules when building new or upgraded properties in Fairfax County - especially in in-fill areas like McLean. Violations include excessive impermeable surface, excessive deforestation, inadequate drainage of storm water (in many cases developers just direct storm water runoff onto the neighboring property) and excessive fence and barrier height. When these violations are discovered, inspectors simply write it off. Supervisors appear to do nothing about it. Unenforced laws discriminate against law abiding citizens as the give clear advantage to law breakers. Either enforce the zoning laws or get rid of them.
