Senator Bob Corker, Rep from Tennessee is proposing a gap tax to absorb the savings now being experienced at the gas pump. This is a bad idea in more ways than one. First of all, in the past 15 years, the American consumer has seen an increase of as much as 60% on basic necessities such as food. While wages continue to stagnate, not keeping up with the cost of living. The increasing gas prices affected the cost of absolutely everything. While I realize, a decrease at the pump will not lower the cost of carpet, printer ink or food, it does give the consumer a few bucks to at least be able to put hamburger into the stew.
The other bad part of this idea is, gas will inevitably go back up and, instead of paying $4.00 a gallon it will be $5.00. It is a breath of fresh air to be able to pay $23.75 to fill the tank instead of $50.00. I don’t care if you are Republican or Democrat.. how about a bit of being an American first and thinking about Joe or Josephine America being able to put milk on Joe Junior’s cereal?
Let Senator Corker know.. this is stupid politics.
